US Military Targeted a 'Big Complex' in the Venezuelan nation, President Trump Stated Lacking Offering Specifics.

Ex-President Donald Trump has stated that US forces struck a "major facility" in Venezuela in recent days. However, the former president did not specify the exact purpose or location of the target, and officials have issued no further clarification from his administration.

Unspecific Remarks Offered In a Radio Show

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels depart from. Two nights ago, we destroyed it. So we struck them very hard," Trump allegedly informed GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Verified Strike

Should a US strike is confirmed, it would represent the initial ground target hit since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of US strike forces in the region to disrupt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration claims operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The original objective of the force deployment has evolved into a blockade aimed at stopping the nation's oil exports.

Online Video and Official Statements

Trump has for weeks stated that American military units are ready to escalate the military campaign by striking targets inside Venezuela, a tactic that would theoretically require legislative approval.

Online video shared online on 24 December seemed to depict an detonation said to be from an industrial area in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An administration official allegedly told a media outlet that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Response and Current Military Situation

The Venezuelan government has issued no statement on the incident the former president described. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The deployment of US military in the region – a position some have called a sea blockade – marks the most expansive naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Sources have refrained from describing the action as a full blockade, but have acknowledged that around 15,000 service members are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to uphold existing economic sanctions.
