The United Kingdom is ready to advance with using the full worth of frozen Russian funds to bolster the Ukrainian war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to come to the table.

They added that the initiative would be executed in tight collaboration with the United States.

British sanctions have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russia's funds since Russia began its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, money allocated to Ukraine using Russia's assets had solely been drawn from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to advance efforts toward employing the full value of the immobilized Moscow's national holdings to conclude the conflict.

He stated that additional sanctions soon would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This announcement is subsequent to EU representatives met in the Danish capital previously to consider using frozen Russian funds for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to seize or otherwise use frozen Russia's funds, according to news outlets.

The worth of immobilized Russia's holdings in the EU is estimated to be almost €211bn.

In a update on X following the strike, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not empty words but decisive action - from the US, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a additional update.

In the same period, Zelensky informed reporters he would urge Sir Keir to enter the PURL scheme, under which Nato countries acquire military equipment from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the United Kingdom's strong support for the Ukrainian government, he said it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the initiative, as well as apply more sanctions on Russia.
